Support the Lincoln Prep boys basketball team (16-13) as they compete against Grandview High School (21-5) TONIGHT in the semifinals of the MSHSAA Class 4, District 14 sectionals. Game starts at 7:45 p.m. at Lee’s Summit High School.

U.S. Service Academy Workshop on Feb. 28 – for high school students and parents interested in applying for admission to the U.S. Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Merchant Marines, the Military Academy at West Point, Coast Guard, New Mexico Military Institute, Virginia Military Institute. Workshop will be held at Lee’s Summit High School, Feb. 28, 7 p.m.
MCCC Health Sciences Institute Visit Day on Feb. 24 – 8:15 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Penn Valley. This event is open to students in grades 10-12 who are interested in Health Careers. The cost is $5. Students can sign up in the Counseling Office.
Missouri Innovation Academy summer program for current 10th and 11th grade students interested in science, math, engineering, and technology. June 10-30 at Missouri State University. Applications are due Feb.15. Application available at www.missouristate.edu/mia

The Office of Civic and Community Engagement will be hosting the 8th Annual Bright Future Employment Fair on Saturday, April 14 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bartle Hall Downtown Convention Center.
The Bright Future Employment Program has provided over 3,500 summer jobs for Kansas City residents since 2005. In the past, interns have gained valuable work experience in various city departments, including City Council, City Manager’s Office, Office of the Mayor, Water Department, Public Works, Aviation, and City Communications.
All applicants are invited to attend a resume and interview preparation workshop on March 31 at Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information go to www.kcmo.org/brightfuture
The Greater KC Regional FIRST Robotics Competition is coming up March 2 and 3. This free event will showcase the robotics and teamwork of 64 area robotics teams — including our Lincoln Tigers! It’s a fun event and great way to introduce your student in the science, technology and engineering fields. See the flyer.
The Interscholastic League and Shooters Touch Academy will hold an All-Star Weekend Jam on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. at the IL Field House, on the corner of Meyer Boulevard and Swope Parkway. The youth basketball skills camp will include skills clinics, 3-point shoot-out, and an IL all-stars game. The event includes lunch and a T-shirt. The cost if $5. Join us for the Thursday, Feb. 9, SAC meeting and take part in a special program examining educational and career opportunities in the STEM fields — science, technology, engineering and math. SAC begins at 6 p.m. in the library. The STEM program will run from 6-6:30 p.m.
